Living Our Quaker Values by Championing Financial Aid

Sidwell Friends’ annual Founder’s Day for Scholars once again brought the community together to celebrate and support one of the School’s deepest commitments: ensuring that family income is never a barrier to a Sidwell education.

Designing a Vibrant Lower School

The culminating phase of Sidwell Friends’ Together We Shine campaign will not only reunify the campus for the first time in more than 60 years, it will transform the Harrison Building into an inspiring, light-filled Lower School.

One School, One Community, One Campus — Completing the Vision Together

Sidwell Friends School has reached an exciting moment in its historic three-phase Together We Shine campaign. This final phase will return the Lower School to the Wisconsin Avenue campus.

Remembering a One-Campus Sidwell Friends

For Sidwell Friends students, parents, faculty, and alumni today, events like Founder’s Day stand out because they bring the entire community together. But for some alumni, memories of the days when Sidwell was on one campus remain strong.

The Enduring Power of a Planned Gift

Planned gifts allow donors to support Sidwell Friends’ mission and future for generations to come. We asked several members of the Sidwell Friends community about the impact they are making through planned giving.

Why Your Gift Matters

Philanthropy is at the heart of our community and creates lasting impact
for our alumni, students, and faculty. Hear how your gifts have provided
transformational experiences inside the classroom and beyond.

Being at Sidwell Friends has boosted my desire to learn because bright students and amazing teachers surround me. My confidence has grown so much here, and thanks to this scholarship, I have the opportunity to continue to nurture my skills and passions. This school effectively pushes me to want to do more for my community and my own self-improvement. Sidwell inspires me to work hard, but also provides me with a strong support system that I will always remember the importance of.

I applied for this grant because I wanted to learn about the glaciers and experience them first hand before they disappear entirely. Climate change can seem a little abstract to fourth graders, and I hoped to take my experience back into the classroom and infuse it into our unit on climate change. I am so grateful to have received this grant. The experience has impacted me both personally and professionally and it has given me a clearer idea how to present this important topic to our students.

When I got to Sidwell, my family hadn’t been in the US very long and couldn’t have afforded tuition. Financial aid was absolutely critical to my being here. I’m forever grateful to the School for its generous financial aid policies, and I feel an immense debt of gratitude that I now repay by contributing to financial aid.
